I got one more word. Done with this for the night. Looking forward to tomorrow’s.
Ooh I was stuck a while after getting the pangram. I didn’t know how I’d find 29 more points. Then I was stuck on 65. But the last one got me home. Or Homer got me the last one.
I was kinda frustrated at things that got rejected.
Inlaw, fillin, daffadil, lawfind. You know, wrong spellings and invented words.
TWO pangrams in this one! Very cool. I did this one in the early morning hours. My fiancee and I drove out to the darkness to watch the Perseid meteor shower. Got back after midnight. Did the puzzle. Passed out.
I’m happy to get back to a high scoring one to get to genius level.
I know I have a backlog of crossword puzzles to write up, and I figure I’ll do that tomorrow.
Also tomorrow I will have an update on Louis DeJoy.
This one wasn’t too bad. Got the pangram as the first word. I feel like there’s more I can do, so update will be later, either with new score or surrender.
’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
I got it finally. Finally, finally. My sister (twitter.com/raablauren) got to genius including the pangram while I was still tweeting at notaspellingbeeword (twitter.com/notaspellingbe1) shortly after midnight. Respect.
Final score for me: 25 words, 78 points.
Now I’ve this puzzle dead, and with my head
I go galumphing back.
I haven’t yet gotten the pangram. I am struggling. But I got to genius for the first time WITHOUT it. I’m going to keep trying to get the pangram, but I think this accomplishment is pretty cool.
Also the notaspellingbeeword Twitter (twitter.com/notaspellingbe1) retweeted me this morning.
I’m trying to picture the person behind the account. Based on the mazal/mazel and gonif posts, I had figured Jewish male in his mid-50s. But the retweet-with-comment that referenced Fergie made me reconsider, and now I’m thinking he’s in his early 30s.
I know I just described myself, but I know I’m not the one who runs notaspellingbeeword because I’m in LA and not Toronto.
Yup, I didn’t finish.
But pennette is a word! You know, the pasta. Small penne.
I’m looking forward to seeing the list of words because I ran out at 39 words and 149 points. I could not find 15 more points.
I started out hot in this one and found the pangram as the third word. I kept going but started running out of steam.
I’m now at 35 words and 141 points. The proper noun Panama works. Go figure.
I just need 25 points to get to genius. I hope to have a breakthrough.
Looks like I won’t finish this one, but I got close. I think I got three pangrams, and one was the first word I put down.
I’m ok with not having gotten to genius level now that my streak is over.
Ok who am I kidding? I’m not that ok with it, but I have nine mosquito bites on my right hand. Nine. From Thursday night.
Do. Not. Go. To. The. Valley.
Mosquitos for the loss.
Also they say panini is cool but panino isn’t. Ugh. It’s Apollo all over again.
Aaaaand I’m back! Got to genius level early in the day, so I don’t expect there to be a follow-up final later. This was way easier than the puzzles for the past two days. I think this is a great one to end the week on.
I’m proud of my 29 words for a 143 points.
Once again, notaspellingbeeword (twitter.com/notaspellingbe1) and I ran into the same issue independently. The other day it was mazal/mazel. Today it was gonif. I feel like I’m in Fight Club, but I know I’m not, so I can talk about it. I’m happy notaspellingbeeword exists.
